NIAGARA FALLS —

Ellen K. (nee Mathieu) Murphy, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY, wife of the late George V. Murphy, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY, following a lengthy illness.  Born on July 29, 1933 in Willimantic, CT, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Elsie Mathieu.
Mrs. Murphy attended schools in Connecticut and came to Niagara Falls, NY in 1975. Ellen was employed as a bookkeeper for Rainbow Ford in Niagara Falls, NY, until the age of 72. She was a member of St. John de LaSalle Roman Catholic Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Murphy enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by four children, Joseph (Karen) Murphy of Ohio, Sharon Murphy of Niagara Falls, NY, Brenda Hart of Niagara Falls, NY and Keefe Murphy of Niagara Falls, NY; nine grandchildren, Donald Tilkins, Kathleen Hart, Thomas Hart, Joseph Murphy, Jr., Jennifer Padilla, Keefe Murphy, Jr., Stephanie Murphy, Christina Murphy and MaryEllen Brezing; four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Lexi Tilkins, McKinley Hart and Sofia Padilla and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, November 14th at 10:00 AM which will be celebrated in St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Slawomir Siok and Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. serving as celebrants. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH. Inurnment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716) 297-9007.
