LEWISTON — Augusto Rocco Maselli, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY, after a brief illness. Born in Giuliano di Roma, Frosinone, Italy, he was the son of the late Luigi and Maria (Caringi) Maselli.

Augusto moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1953 and then returned back to Italy to marry his loving wife, Giuseppina "Pina" Paggiossi on July 27, 1963. Following their marriage, they immigrated to Niagara Falls, NY where they lived together happily for the last 50 years. Augusto was employed by General Abrasive for 36 years until his retirement in 1989.

Known as Auggie by his friends and family, he loved to garden, play cards, shoot dice and listen to his Italian music loudly. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed boxing, football and the Buffalo Bills.

In addition to his wife, Auggie is survived by his amazing son, Pier (Joyce Gravino) Maselli of Wilson, NY with Nikole Collins and Gabrielle Gravino; his daughter, Marina Shiah and her      husband, Timothy Shiah, who was like a son to him; granddaughter, Miranda Shiah and his great- granddaughter, Mikaela Bester, who were the loves of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Ermelinda Sperduti as well as many nieces and nephews. Augusto was predeceased by his three brothers, Matthew, Joseph and Natale and one sister, Palmira Violante.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14th from 5:00-9:00 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 15th at 12 Noon in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and  Independence Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, NY 14301; or to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, 1023 Swann Rd., Lewiston, NY 14174.
