Helen L. Paonessa

GRAND ISLAND — Helen L. Paonessa, of Williamsville, NY, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013, in  Elderwood Health Care at Riverwood, Grand Island, NY.

She was born in Brockport, NY, on March 1, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Alberta (Cook) VanStone.

Mrs. Paonessa graduated from Brockport State Teachers College and later moved to Niagara Falls in the early 1940s. She was an elementary school teacher with the Niagara Falls Board of Education for several years. Mrs. Paonessa enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Paonessa, who died in December of 1992.

Mrs. Paonessa is survived by two daughters, Judith A. Preskop of Youngstown, NY and Carole L. (Terry) Loftus of Cazenovia, NY; three grandchildren, William, Robert and Rozalynn; one sister, Shirley Brule and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the wishes of her family, with Msgr. J. Thomas  Moran officiating. Memorials may be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance Fund, 625 Third Street, Youngstown, NY  14174.  Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery,         Lewiston, NY.
