Carl Andersen, 90, of Lewiston, NY, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September, 21, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, to Carl and Anne (Steele) Andersen on September 19, 1923. Until the time of his death he was the devoted husband to Norma (Palmer) Andersen.
Carl was a proud WWII veteran serving with the US Army in the 253rd Combat Engineer Battalion. He received battle stars for the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of Europe and an honorable discharge in 1946.
After returning from war Carl graduated from University at Buffalo and began his career at Hysen Supplies, Inc. He was a successful businessman, eventually becoming an owner of Hysen Supplies. In 1982, he started Andersen Electric Supply in Niagara Falls, NY. The business bearing his name continues to operate to this day.
Carl has left behind a legacy of husband, father, grandfather, mentor, veteran and employer. Through his life's example we have learned the importance of humanity, integrity, kindness, humor and hard work.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Linda McClure, San Antonio, TX, and Deborah (James) Pauline, Lewiston, NY; 12 grandchildren, Cheryl (Rusty) Carr, Carl (Keri) Spivey, Heather (Mohanad) Mercer-AI Khoury, Haley Mercer, William Oddy, Thomas Oddy, Karen Oddy, Elizabeth Broomfield, Kindra Lloyd, Craig Pauline, Maribeth Pauline and Casey Pauline; three great-grandchildren, Cailev, Kenza and Colton; one brother, James (Ann) Andersen of Naples, FL. Carl was the grandfather of the late Hannah and Hilleary Mercer and six late sisters.
The family will be present on Thursday, from 3-6 PM, where funeral services will be held at 6 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga, LEWISTON, NY, with George Brown officiating.
