SANBORN — Bessie G. Paul, of Sanborn, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2013,  under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice.

She was born in Throop, PA,  on May 28, 1924, the daughter of the late William and Bessie (Caines) Henderson, Sr.

Mrs. Paul moved to Niagara Falls in 1942 and later to Sanborn in 1955.  She was an inspector at Carborundum Corp. from 1942 until 1951.

Mrs. Paul was an active member of Hope United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member and past President of the Sanborn Rebecca Lodge #668.

She loved growing African Violets; she also enjoyed crocheting and had bowled in many leagues over the years.

Mrs. Paul is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard H. Paul; two daughters, Carol L. (Roger) Paul-Watanabe of Honolulu, HI and Cathy  J. (late George) Rafferty of Sanborn, NY; four grandchildren, Alyssa (Keven) Kapaona, Jessica (Johnathan) Watanabe, Adam (Devin) Rafferty and Jaime Benzel; one great-grandson, Johnavan Bryant. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Thomas, Harry, George, William Henderson and Myrtle Boyle.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, with the Rev. Matthew D. Kofahl officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY  14094. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton, NY.
