Sidney (Sid) George Diamond

RALEIGH, NC —  

Sidney (Sid) George Diamond, 84, of Raleigh, NC, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012. He was born September 20, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, to Herbert and Elizabeth Diamond.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict earning the Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars.  Upon returning he met Nellie Kolometz and they were married on June 9, 1956 in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. Sid will be remembered as a loving father, devoted husband, good friend and a great man.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Garnet, Trenton; and half-siblings, Lois and Jim. Sid is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nellie; sons, Larry, Bruce and his wife, Kim, Steve and his wife, Peggy, Chris and his wife, Amy; daughters, Joanne Diamond-Hagar and her husband, Randy and Beth Gibbons; grandchildren, Amanda, Kelly, Krista, Mark, Ryan, Drew and Emily; and numerous other loving family members.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Hospice of Wake County, 200 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC 27607, www.hospiceofwake.org.
