Gary Russell Naus

NIAGARA FALLS — Gary Russell Naus, a longtime Niagara Falls  resident, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was 77. He was born in Hazelton, PA, on July 19, 1935, the son of Russell and Creola (Eiseman) Naus. Gary's family settled in Niagara Falls when he was a child.

 He attended area schools and was a graduate of the former Trott Vocational High School. In 1955, he began his 40-year career with Great Lakes Carbon Company, retiring as a supervisor in 1995. A longtime member of Riverside Presbyterian Church, he also was an active member of Niagara Falls Elks Lodge 346; the ARRL Radio Club; the Corvair Club and an American Red Cross Volunteer. A Ham Radio enthusiast, he also enjoyed woodworking and working on his Corvair.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Kathleen "Kate" (Maloney), whom he married in 1956; three children, Paul Naus (Cindie Strasburg) of Lewiston, David Naus (Kimberly) of Pendleton and Cathy Basta (Mark) of Fairport, NY; his sister, Joyce O'Donnell (Jim) of Niagara Falls; thirteen grandchildren, Jamie, Michael, Brian and Derek Naus, Christopher Naus, Jamie Hardy, Jennifer Simone, Kevin Naus, Jason Ross, James Ross, Elaina, Eric and Sarah Basta; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gayle Naus in 2011; and a nephew, Douglas Boos.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue. Funeral services on Wednesday 10 AM in Riverside Presbyterian Church, 815-84th Street,  Niagara Falls. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton, NY. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church.
