NIAGARA FALLS —
Dwight G.L. Black, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was 60. He was born in Niagara Falls, a son of the late David M. and Beverly B. Black.
He attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School and then worked for many years as a mason / bricklayer at TAM Ceramics until his retirement. Dwight enjoyed hunting, fishing, street rods and was a Buffalo Sabres fan but his greatest joy was his time with his family. He especially enjoyed his time with, and cooking for, his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elisabeth A. (Dover) Black; his children, Beverly (Joseph) Keefe, Cindy Horton, Debra (Cara) Bele, and Brad (Ondrea) Shaffer. He is also survived by siblings, David J.R. (Elizabeth) Black, Drettalouise B. Quinn, Deidra B (Jeffrey) Wilson, Daniel W. (James) Black; his former wife, Connie Black; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-son, Michael Shaffer, in 2002.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Ave., TODAY (Sunday) from 2-7 PM, where funeral services will be held at 7 PM. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of WNY, 300 Delaware Avenue, Suite 101, Buffalo, NY 14202.
