MARION, MA —
Eugene J. DeLorenzo, 82, of Marion, MA, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013. He was the husband of Dorothy Jean (Brass) DeLorenzo, formerly of Niagara Falls.
Born in Niagara Falls, son of Eugenio and Fiorina (Capilupi) DeLorenzo, he had resided in Marion for the past 15 years.
He was an active parishioner of St. Rita's Church, Marion, where he volunteered doing maintenance and carpentry work.
Mr. DeLorenzo was formerly employed as manager of research for ITEK Corporation in Lexington. He and his wife had also owned and operated the Chadwick House in Edgartown, MA.
He was active in civic endeavors and town politics in both Marion and Martha's Vineyard. He was an advocate for the Pro-Life movement.
He was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and Niagara University. He received his Doctorate degree in Physical Chemistry from New York University.
Survivors include his wife; his stepdaughters, Elaine Lawson of Shirley, MA and Barbara Perry and her husband, Steven, of Maynard; his sister, Nimfa DeLorenzo of Niagara Falls; his grandsons, Alfred DeCesare and Samuel Lawson; and his great-grandsons, Derek and Dylan DeCesare. He is also survived by many cousins. He was predeceased by his stepson, Patrick J. Lawson; and grandson, Patrick DeCesare.
Funeral services were held at St. Rita's Church, Marion, on March 5th, and burial at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Corcord, MA.
