Elizabeth "Betty" (Havrilak) Negast, 79, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Tire Hill, PA she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Kovacs) Havrilak.
Elizabeth was raised and educated in Pennsylvania. On February 26, 1955 she married Jacob F. "Jack" Negast in Johnstown, PA and together they moved to Niagara Falls, NY, where she lived until the present time. Mr. Negast predeceased her on August 6, 2011. Betty, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was employed as an office clerk at the Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls, NY. She later worked as an operating room secretary at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY until her retirement. Betty enjoyed cooking and playing Bingo. But her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her two daughters and one son, Jackie (Cary) Freeman, Patti (John) Lysiak and John Negast, all of Niagara Falls, NY. She was predeceased by a daughter and infant son, Lisa A. Negast Brenon and William John Negast. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Leanna (Andy) Chapman, Ryan, Ashley, Elizabeth, Johnny, Jacob, Lauren, Michael and Matthew; one sister, Mary (late Jay) Stahl of Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers, George Havrilak, John Havrilak; and one sister, Annie Patricko.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 3-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL 
CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, December 6th at 11:00 AM in St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Very Rev. Paul Solberg officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. A Trisagion Memorial Service will be offered on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
