Thomas G. Walton

BUFFALO — Thomas G. Walton, 74, of Lewiston, NY, passed from this life on Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, which occurred on July 9th. Born on April 18, 1939 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late Thomas and Violet (Goddard) Walton.

Mr. Walton attended schools in Canada and graduated from Stanford Collegiate Institute in 1956. Thomas came to Niagara Falls, NY in 1957.  On February 1, 1958, he married the former Jean Edukonis in the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Walton served his machinist apprenticeship at Chisholm Ryder in Niagara Falls, NY. From 1969, Thomas worked for Harrison Radiator, in Lockport, NY, until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, where he attended the St. Leo's site and was a former member of the Lewiston #2 Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Walton coached boy's junior hockey, as well as boy's junior football. Thomas also served as a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He enjoyed bowling, where he kept a 200+ average and achieved 2-300 games, working for his daughter at her campground in Lockport, NY (NCCR), antiques and going to flea markets.  Mr. Walton loved his family and especially enjoyed cooking meals for them.

In addition to his beloved wife of over 55 years, Mr. Walton is survived by five children, Cheryl (Jerry) Gromoll of Georgia, Christine (Jim) Undercoffer of Lockport, NY, Caren (Paul) Benn of Wheatfield, NY, Cyndi (Roger) Smith of Ransomville, NY, and Tim (Darlene) Walton of Youngstown, NY; 16 grandchildren, including the love of his life, Allison G. Smith, his 4 1/2 year old granddaughter. He said every day, "I just love that girl," and six great-grandchildren. Thomas is also survived by one sister-in-law, Florence (late Edwin) Lasky of Niagara Falls, NY; two nieces, Linda Gromoll and Lori Klemczyk; and many cousins and friends in the Toronto area.

The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 1-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 29th at 11:00 AM, which will be celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Andrew Lauricella officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Lewiston #2 Fire Company, 1705 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304; or to a charity of one's choice.
