Helene Elizabeth McNelis

NORTH TONAWANDA — Helene Elizabeth (Rohr) McNelis, of Niagara Falls, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in       Northgate Health Care Facility, Hospice unit. She was born in Camden, NJ on October 26, 1926, the daughter of George P. and Stephanie (Michalska) Rohr. As a child, she moved to Pennsylvania where she graduated from Olney High School in 1945, married John McNelis on June 11, 1949, and settled in Niagara Falls.

Mrs. McNelis was a Legal Secretary for Attys. Grossman and Levine for many years. In 1998, she retired from Phelps, Gray, Mansour and Hewitt.  She was a member of the Niagara County Legal Secretaries, St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace and its women's group, and was a former member of the PTA serving as President. She was an avid book reader and a 25-year Artpark volunteer.

Survivors include her children, Susan Antolik of Bloomington, MN; George McNelis (Tina) of the Town of Niagara; Pamela Robinson (Paul) of Everett, WA, and Megan Barrett (Paul) of   Noblesville, IN; Sandi Poyer of Las Vegas; her brother, Jack Rohr (late Helen) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jennifer McNelis, J.P. McNelis III, Michael Antolik, Melissa Antolik, Jennie Poyer, Adam Bruno, Anastasia Robinson, Dylan Robinson, Matthew Barrett and Lauren Barrett; seven great-grandchildren and five nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 2001; two sons, John P. McNelis and Kevin G. McNelis; and her grandson, Jason McNelis.

Friends may call Sunday from 3-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo     Avenue, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace, 1055 Military Road, Niagara Falls. The interment will be private. If desired, memorials be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc., 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
