Marion Neff

NIAGARA FALLS — Marion G. (Nesbitt) Neff, 103, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2013, surrounded by family. She was born on March 7, 1910 and spent her early years on a dairy farm in South Kortright, NY. She was raised by her loving parents, Sherman and Mabel (James) Nesbitt and was a devoted sister to the late Robert Nesbitt. Mrs. Neff moved to Niagara Falls, NY with her family at the age of seven and attended Niagara Falls High School and the former Kelly Business Institute. She married Merrill Neff on November 17, 1928. Merrill  preceded her in death in 1984. She was also predeceased by her son, Frederick. Devoted to her husband throughout her life, Mrs. Neff always wore her wedding ring.

Marion worked in the Traffic Department of ISCO Chemical Company (47th and Royal Avenue) for several years. She then became a devoted housewife until she returned to the workforce in 1961, as a secretary with Airco Alloys. She served in the Rainbow Club at the Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Zonta Club, and served as a member of the Board on the YWCA. She was a member of the Auxiliary of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and a volunteer for the Niagara Falls chapter of the American Red Cross. Marion's family lineage includes patriots of the American Revolution and she was inducted into Buffalo's Katherine Pratt Horton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Marion was also an avid bridge player, playing up until a week before her passing.

Marion was one of a kind. The matriarch of her large family, she set an example of perseverance and unfailing courage over a century of global events and personal losses. At all times a lady, Marion exhibited unwavering grace and dignity. She will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Donald Neff of Nolensville, TN, Marilyn Raymond of Silverthorne, CO, and Helen Bremner of West Palm Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Cheryl Germain, David Norris, David  and Jim Repsher, Jason and Jeremy Neff, Jennifer Abbott, Julie             Norris-Gamon, Mary, Michael and Rita Norris; her great-grandchildren, Anders, Annika, Carla, David, Derek, Jessica and Ryan; and her great-great grandson, Dominic. She is also survived by her niece, Bonnie Krull. She will also be missed by special family friends, Richard and Diane Ralyea and many others.

Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Ave., on Tuesday from 4-7 PM, where services will be held at 7 PM.
