NIAGARA FALLS — Elisa Alice DeSimone died peacefully on January 29, 2013. Born in Oakfield, NY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Raniere and Emilia (Nanni) DeSimone and dear step-daughter of the late Luigina DeSimone. As a young child, she lived in Italy for two years following her mother's death. There she learned to speak, read and write fluent Italian and was in training to become a tailor. Upon returning to the US, her family settled in           Niagara Falls and she attended local schools. On January 31, 1942, she married Anthony DeSimone. They were married 51 years before his death in September 1993.

Mrs. DeSimone worked at the Spirella Co. in the 1940s and the Carborundum Company in the 1950s and 60s. She also held a variety of part-time jobs, including retail stores and bakery shops. Her last job was working as a cafeteria assistant for the NF public school system.

Devoted to her family, Mrs. DeSimone loved to cook and bake for them. She was especially known for her variety of Christmas cookies and homemade pizza. She loved to dance and listen to music. Among her all-time favorites were Gene Autry and Dean Martin. Mrs. DeSimone was a devout member of Prince of Peace Church and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a life-time member of the Christoforo Columbus Society and was a former member of the Century Club. Her faith was very important to her and she use to say 13 rosaries a day. During the last years of her life, she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Lisa.

Mrs. DeSimone was the cherished mother of Ann (Lorenzo) Brown of Raleigh, NC, Lisa      DeSimone of the city, Anthony (Jacqueline) DeSimone, Jr. of the city, and Raymond (Lucy)  DeSimone of Monroe, MI; adored grandmother of Anthony C. (Kimberly) DeSimone of Amherst, Maria (Shawn) Grapes of Wheatfield and Christina, Raymond and Nicolette DeSimone of Michigan; and beloved great-grandmother to Evelyn, Alexander, and Adrianna Grapes, and Anthony E. and Julian DeSimone. She was the sister of Mary (late Nello) Capone, Hugo (late Laurie) DeSimone, Emilio (Carmella) DeSimone, Josephine (late Sam) Capone and Elvera Cappellano. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, David (Ida) DeSimone; and an infant  sister, Emilia DeSimone. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Melvin Dyster and his staff for providing 50 years of          excellent primary physician care of our dear mother. We would also like to thank NFMMC Comfort Care Unit for their compassionate care with a special thank you to Jeannine Juron-Cavese.
