Melinda M. Hutchison

SANBORN — Melinda M. Hutchison, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013, at her home. She was born in Greenville, PA, on July 2, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Mabel (Dorwart) Meeker.

Mrs. Hutchison and her husband had lived in Greenville and Irwin, PA, until moving to Sanborn in 1966. They also lived in Hagerstown, MD from 1971 to 1975, then permanently returned to Sanborn in 1976. She was employed with various businesses in the area over the years. Mrs. Hutchison volunteered with Niagara Hospice and the food pantry in Buffalo, NY. She was the librarian at the Niagara Presbyterian Church and with the University Presbyterian Church in Buffalo, and also enjoyed reading, traveling and talking with her grandchildren.

 Mrs. Hutchison was the wife of the late Jack L. Hutchison, who died in February of 2010. She is survived by three sons, Donald (Claudia) Hutchison of Portland, OR, Thomas (Lynne) Hutchison of Springfield, IL, and the Rev. Paul (Denise) Hutchison of Greencastle, PA; a daughter-in-law, Merri Compton of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Becky, Aaron, Jessica, Jacob, Micol and Christine; seven great-grandchildren, Hailey, Benjamin, Zachary, Nicholas, Joris, Adriana and Sage; two sisters, Betty Bender and Nancy Shoaff. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hutchison was the mother of the late Lee and Dean Hutchison; and sister of the late George Meeker, Birdella and Evelyn.

The family will be present on Saturday from 2-4 PM and 6-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made in her name to Niagara Hospice or to the University Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, Buffalo, NY.
