LOCKPORT — Thomas John Crawford, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Monday, January 28, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House, following a brief illness.  He was 69.

Thomas was born in Niagara Falls, NY on May 16, 1943, the son of Ernest F. and Doris H. (Howell) Crawford. As a child, he and his family relocated several times for his father's employment, attending schools in Morgantown, NC, and Jackson, OH, before returning back to Niagara Falls, graduating from the former LaSalle Senior High School. He attended college in Alma, MI, Parsons, IA, and Letourneau, TX, before entering the USAF, serving in Korea, earning the Good Conduct Medal.

Tom was employed as an electronics technician for the former Bell Aerospace (Lockheed and Martin) for many years and also worked for Sanborn Nurseries. He enjoyed racing cars, Ransomville Speedway and tinkering with cars.  He also loved gardening and pottery.

He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Sharyn Morrell, on January 8, 2012.  Survivors include his special son, Gregg (Carla) Morrell and his grandson, Max of Sanborn; his brother, Robert E. (Janet) Crawford and family; Cindy Crawford and sons, Jacob and Noah of Dunnellon, FL; Cheryl (Joseph) Bird and children, Kyle and Jaime of Pompano Beach, FL; his sister, Janice C. Wellsby and her daughter, Kimberly Clark and her children, Rebecca Clark and Breanna and David Smith, all of Niagara Falls; his sister and family were Tom's caretakers during his final battle; his best friend, Rev. George Bell and many cousins.

Friends may call Thursday after 10 AM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo   Avenue, where the Rev. George Bell will conduct services at 11 AM. The interment will be private. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc., 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
