Judith B. (nee Martin) Sparks, 73, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away, unexpectedly, on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in Mount Saint Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born on February 13, 1939 in Ransomville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Ida (Hillman) Martin.
Judy, as she was known by family and friends, attended local schools and was a longtime resident of the Town of Niagara, NY. She began her career at the former Grant's Department Store. Judy then worked as a waitress for the former Vix's Restaurant on Hyde Park Boulevard and later for Air-Lock Plastics, Inc. She was also a cook and waitress at the former Truckers Luck Restaurant, which was owned and operated by her late sister, Ellen Jasper, and continued to work for other various owners at the same location. For 24 years, Judy was an independent contractor for the Niagara Gazette, where she delivered newspapers to local businesses and residences, and was devoted to always taking care of her customers. She was a talented singer and sang on the WJJL radio station, as well as in her band, known as "The Ranch Girls." Judy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by two children, Deborah (Russ) Morris of Niagara Falls, NY and Judy Lynn (Leon) Guiliani, Jr. of the Town of Niagara, NY; four grandchildren, Johnathan Morris, David Morris, Daniel Koslicki and Cody Guiliani; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three siblings, Ruth (late Elmer "Buss") Lewis, Clayton "Sonny" (late Blanche) Wakefield and Ellen (late John) Jasper.
There will be no prior visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date by the family. Arrangements were entrusted to the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007).
