Mary L. Pietricone

LEWISTON — Mary L. "Laura" Pietricone, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed into eternity on Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. She was the daughter of the late Supito and Chiara (Toppi) Pietricone.

A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, Laura attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1940. Following graduation, she worked at the former Whitney Avenue School repairing furniture, and then at Niagara Falls Police Headquarters as a typist; as jobs were scarce at that time, they were both financed by the government. She later worked at Union Carbide in Niagara Falls, NY from March 21, 1942 until her       retirement on December 31, 1982, and after retiring volunteered at the Niagara Falls Food Bank. Laura was a longtime parishioner of the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and a member of its parish council, Legion of Mary and senior citizens group.  She was also a Eucharistic minister and visited patients at local hospitals and shut-ins. She was also a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Seniors, Catholic Daughters of America, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Carbide Retirees, and was in charge of the Caring and Sharing Program at Schoellkopf Nursing Facility. Upon the closing of Sacred Heart Church, Laura became a member of Holy Family Parish at Mt. Carmel Church.

In addition to her parents, Laura was predeceased by an infant brother, Attilio             Pietricone; her brother, Peter (Joanne) Pietricone and sister, Florence (Richard) Depew. She is survived by many family members, her devoted friend, Donna Biro, and several other dear friends.

"I thank the friends who drove me on volunteer calls, as that I did not drive. I forgive anyone who has hurt me, and I apologize to anyone I have hurt." Laura
