Donald G. Bottom


Donald G. Bottom, longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 81. He was born in Albion, NY on July 9, 1931, a son of the late Gordon J. and Fern (LaBarr) Bottom. He moved to Niagara Falls as a child and attended local schools including LaSalle Jr. /Sr. High School.
Mr. Bottom served in the United States Army from 1951-54. He married Frances Riscile in 1952 and they remained happily married for 61 years until his passing. He worked locally as a truck driver for various businesses including Roblun Concrete and Chemical Leaman and then he and his wife spent 10 years in Massachusetts during which time he worked for Nashoba Paving from where he retired in 1994. He was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Church, enjoyed model trains, the computer and cutting his grass but his greatest joy was his time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife he is survived by four children, Christine DiLacqua, Gary (Becky) Bottom, Karen (Jeffrey) Lund, and Douglas Bottom. He is also survived by one grandchild, Dylan Bottom; and two siblings, Carol (Fred) Marsico, and James Bottom. He was predeceased by siblings, Robert (Bae) Bottom, John (Marion) Bottom, Ronald Bottom and Patricia Rawlinson.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. If desired, donations may be made in Mr. Bottom's name to the American Lung Association, 418 Broadway, 1st Floor Albany, NY 12207.
