John "Jack" Rufrano


John "Jack" Rufrano, age 74, a Youngstown resident, died February 6, 2014, in Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta, NY, after a lengthy illness. Jack was born March 23, 1939 to the late Lottie (Kafasz) and Joseph Rufrano.
In accordance with Jack's wishes, having been a living medical miracle for 37 years, an Anatomical Gift to the SUNY Upstate Medical Center at Syracuse University was arranged by Bookhout Funeral Home in Oneonta, NY.
Jack was a devout member of St. Bernard's RC Church in Youngstown where he attended daily Mass. A memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 11:00AM at St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman and Second Sts., Youngstown, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas J. Moran officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Jack attended local schools and was a 1957 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. Jack was an avid thoroughbred horse trainer for many years. Jack also managed the Town and Country Dinner Theater in Rochester, NY. After his retirement Jack enjoyed musical performances, dancing, walking, watching sporting events, traveling, reading, and most of all, visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his beloved fiance, Janet Brooks; his sister, Betty Grenga; his cherished children, son, Joseph (Shirley) Rufrano, and daughter, Julie (Rick) Davis; his nephew, Paul Grenga and nieces, Jacqueline (Ken) Beilman and Liz Grenga and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was Grampy Jack to Lexie Jo and Kiersten Rufrano; and Vladi and Noah Pawlowski. Randy, Karyn and Jeffrey Pawlowski also enjoyed his outgoing friendship. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Paul Grenga and Tony Kanka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Assoc.
