NIAGARA FALLS —
Brian S. Archie, Jr., was born on April 18, 1991, in Niagara Falls, NY to Brian S. Archie, Sr. and Olympia Glasco.
Brian was baptized at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a member, attending services whenever his schedule permitted. He departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 22, 2013.
Despite his short journey on Earth, Brian's accomplishments were extraordinary. He was a super dad to Jayden and he was so proud of that role in his life. He often spoke of Jayden's intellectual acuity, especially his reading ability and the fact that he already was learning Spanish.
Brian attended the public schools of Niagara Falls and graduated with a Regents Honors diploma from Niagara Falls High School in 2009. Brian received the Wolverine Athletics 2008-2009 Award for outstanding academic achievement and participation in the Winter Athletic Season. He had stellar records in track and field competitions.
Brian also received several scholarships, including the James L. Williams, Sr. Memorial Scholarship that honored his great-grandfather, and the Nathaniel Smith Memorial Scholarship of the Niagara Falls Housing Authority.
Upon graduating from high school, Brian enrolled at the University at Buffalo where he pursued majors in engineering, international business and a minor in education. At UB he also excelled academically and made the Dean's List. He became a member of the UB Bulls and he was named to the indoor and outdoor academic All-Mid-American Conference teams last year. His coaches commented on his diligence in pursuing excellence on and off the field. He placed sixth in the long jump at the MAC indoor championships and ninth outdoors. Students at the University spoke highly of Brian and he often was a tutor for individuals.
Brian was creative in other areas of his life. Some may describe him as a renaissance man. He was a voracious reader and also loved to write prose and poetry. Friends observed that he also cut quite a rug on the dance floor and enjoyed performing creative African dances.
Brian leaves to cherish his memory his son, Jayden; his parents, Brian S. Archie, Sr. (Latresse) and Olympia Glasco; brothers, Brandon S. and Lateef Archie, and Samod Young; and sisters, Jerica, Bria, Brionna and Breajah Archie, all of Niagara Falls, NY; his paternal grandmother, Patricia A. Williams and paternal grandfather, Shirey Archie, Jr. and "other" grandparents, Ronald (Veronica) Griggs; and maternal grand- parents, Joyce Mims and Johnny Glasco (deceased); paternal great-grandparents, Ada L. Williams and James L. Williams, Sr. (deceased) and Floydell and Shirey Archie, Sr. (deceased); maternal great- parents, Betty and Carenzo Glasco; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
