Raymond L. Barry

NIAGARA FALLS —

On April 22, 2013, Raymond L. Barry, of Colonial Village, went to be with our Lord surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born August 21, 1925, in Reynoldsville, PA, the youngest of nine children of the late Herschel and Ethel Barry.
Ray served in Europe with the 254th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during WWII, where he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action.
After the war, he moved to Niagara Falls where he met, and later married, his beloved wife, Janet on November 21, 1953. Employed by General Motors as a Maintenance Electrician, Ray retired after 39 years. Ray was a member of Lewiston #2 Volunteer Fire Department. He was a past-member of The Buff Social Club, Elks Lodge 346, and The Niagara Falls Moose Lodge. Ray was known for his contagious smile, generosity, compassion, and willingness to help a friend. He enjoyed many seasons of camping at Arrowhead in the Southern Tier with his family and numerous friends. He was a devoted father who loved spending time with his family and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife Janet of 56 years, sisters, Leona, Ruth, Muriel, and Beryl; and brothers, Jake, Cliff, Al and Edward. Ray is survived by his six children, Raymond E. (Terese) Barry of Buffalo, Kenneth W. (Mary Ann) Barry of Kansas, Susan L. (David) Boorom of Lewiston, Nancy L. (Steve) Chuilli or Oklahoma, David A. Barry of Niagara Falls, and James R. Barry of Lewiston. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Ave. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday in Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, 166-59th St., with the Rev. Lee Holiday officiating, assisted by Rev. Robert Peck. Burial in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Town of Lewiston. If desired, memorials may be made to Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church.
