Suzanne "Sookie" (nee Connor) Bieniek, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Friday, March 14, 2014 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY, following a lengthy illness. Born on July 11, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Susannah (Whiting) Connor.
Mrs. Bieniek was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1952. On June 15, 1968, Sookie, as she was known by family and friends, married Richard Bieniek.
Throughout her working career, she held several positions at various local businesses, most recently was Viola's Submarine House and Bowl-O-Drome. Mrs. Bieniek was a member of Holy Family of Jesus Mary and Joseph Parish, where she attended the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel worship site. Sookie served as a school volunteer for both her daughter and granddaughter. She was an outstanding cook and one of the first sub makers of Niagara Falls. Mrs. Bieniek knew the great importance of giving out good Halloween treats, which earned her the title of "the candy apple lady." Granny especially enjoyed her time with her granddaughter hunting unicorns, capturing leprechauns and reading bedtime stories. She was loved by her granddaughter lots.
In addition to her beloved husband of over forty-five years, Mrs. Bieniek is survived by one daughter, Wendy (Terry) Stiltner of Niagara Falls, NY; one granddaughter, Teaa Ann Stiltner; one sister, Dorathea (late Glenn) Mort of Niagara Falls, NY; two brothers, Miles (late Anne) Connor of Niagara Falls, NY and Ronald Connor of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother-in-law, Paul (Wreatha) Harvey of Lockport, NY; three sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Sookie was predeceased by four sisters, Shirley Harvey, Norine "Nini" (late Clarence "Chet") Collins, Elizabeth (late John "Jack") Kent and Wilma Connor; and two brothers, Merle (late Dorothy) Connor and Maurice (Elaine of Niagara Falls, NY) Connor.
