NIAGARA FALLS —

Dr. Louis Kramer, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY, after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 22, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Joseph and Lillian (Weinstein) Kramer.
Dr. Kramer was a graduate of the University of Buffalo Dental School. On January 23, 1955, he married the former Arrene Karnofsky in Buffalo, NY. During World War II, Dr. Kramer served in the European Theater as a Captain in the US Army Air Corps. Following his military service, he resumed his private dental practice in Niagara Falls and practiced until his retirement in the mid 1990's. Dr. Kramer was a life-member of Temple Beth Israel, former president of the New York State and Niagara County Dental Societies and a member of the University of Buffalo Dental School Alumni Association. He also served as Secretary of the Niagara Falls Hebrew Credit Union for over 25 years.
When his sons were younger, Dr. Kramer served as Cub Scout Master at the Maple Avenue School. After retirement, he volunteered to do Income Tax Returns for the senior citizens for over 10 years.   Dr. Kramer was also a life-member of the Zionist Organization and gave liberally to many Jewish causes. Dr. Kramer enjoyed culture and the arts, and subscribed to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for over 35 years and together with his wife attended the Stratford Festival yearly for over 30 years. He was a very intelligent and witty individual who touched all those around him and was known to read Maimonides: Torah and Philosophic Quest by David Hartman every night before retiring.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arrene (nee Karnofsky) Kramer; three sons, Edward (MaryAnn) Kramer, David (Lisa) Kramer and Robert (Reliefia) Kramer; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Jennifer), Jacqueline (Jeffrey Koslofsky), Jillian, Stephanie, Alexander Kramer, Catie and Eric Chester; two sisters, Frieda (Robert) Roth and Molly Gordon; one brother-in-law, Arthur Karnofsky; and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Kramer was predeceased by his parents; brothers-in-law, the late Irving Gordon, late Harvey Black; and sisters-in-law, the late Ida Black and the late Eileen Karnofsky.
There will be no prior visitation. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday March 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls. Family and friends invited. Condolence calls may be made Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the family residence. Flowers gratefully declined.
