Henry N. Smith

GRAND ISLAND — Henry N. Smith, a long-time resident of Niagara Falls, died on Saturday, August 24, 2013 in       ElderWood Health Care at Riverwood. He was born in Buffalo, NY on April 10, 1934, the son of Henry V. and Ruth (Baker) Smith. He was a graduate of the former Bishop Duffy High School.  Mr. Smith served in the US Navy, seeing the world aboard the USS Corregidor.

In 1993, he retired from a long career with Nynex as a company manager. He was a member and past President of CWA Union Local 1117; the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, and served as past commander of the American Legion in Olean, NY. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed camping.

Survivors include four children, Maureen Jasper (Robert), Michael Smith (Kathy), Peter Smith (Leslie) and Stephen Smith (Deneen); several brothers and sister; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Veronica (Nemetz) Smith.

Private services and burial will be held Wednesday. The LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., is handling the funeral arrangements.
