NIAGARA FALLS —
Josephine Mary (Soha) Parsnick, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2013. She was born on January 10, 1918 in Nanticoke, PA, the daughter of the late John and Marianna (Krawiec) Soha.
She attended school in Pennsylvania and married Andrew Parsnick, here at St. Mary of the Cataract Church on May 1, 1941. She was recruited by Sr. Michael Louise, OSF to work as a sacristan at St. Joseph's Church and served for over 25 years. Mrs. Parsnick was an active member of St. Joseph's Church where she was a member of the Mothers Health Club, a volunteer for Catholic Charities, a bingo worker, their Senior Citizens program, the Purgatorial Society, and a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Madonna Soccorso Societies. She was also an active member of the former Haeberle Avenue Block Rosary Club. Other past community involvements included the Bishop Duffy Mothers Club and NOAH. Josephine was also a daily viewer of EWTN and Mother Angelica. She also enjoyed gardening, baking and doing puzzles.
Mrs. Parsnick was predeceased in 1982 by her husband, Andrew. Surviving are four children, Thomas (Joan) of Union Springs, NY, Michael (Elizabeth), Daniel (Lori) Parsnick, both of Niagara Falls, NY and Annmarie (Frank) Nastasi of Whittier, CA; eight grandchildren, Todd, Jennifer, Danielle, Matthew, Mary, Andrew, Johanna and Christina and two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Jonathan. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews; and dear friends, Vera Fabiano, Theresa D'Aloise and Catherine Szostak. She was also predeceased by her siblings, the late Veronica, John, Anna, Celia, Violet, Sophie, Stanley and Albina.
The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday frm 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, where prayers will be said at Monday morning at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue at 10:00 AM. Rev. Duane R. Klizek, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. Friends invited. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Catholic Extension Society Chicago, IL, and may be given to a family member. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital and Schoellkopf Health Care Center who cared for our Mom, Grandma and Aunt like a member of their own family.
