Dennis L. Johnston


Dennis L. Johnston, 67, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Betty (Moody) Johnston.
Dennis was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School. He served in the United States Navy from February 28, 1963 until his honorable discharge on October 20, 1964. Dennis worked in production at Union Carbide in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a former member of the Buff Club in the Town of Niagara. Dennis enjoyed building and flying R.C. planes and working on classic cars. He also liked to go camping but most of all, Dennis loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Johnston is survived by his beloved wife, Debra S. (Darnell) Johnston; six children, Thomas Johnston of North Carolina, April (Steve) Matson of Ransomville, NY, Joseph (Christine) Johnston of North Carolina, Tonia (Kevin) Bundy, Carrie (Donald) Horton and Teresa Johnston, all of the Town of Niagara, NY; seventeen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Laura Jane Johnston and Martha Thompson, both of Florida; one brother, James Johnston of Kansas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 6th at 11 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5871 Military Rd., Lewiston, NY with Rev. Justin Marple officiating, concluding with Military Honors.
