Sarah Marie (San Pasquale) de Rosa

NIAGARA FALLS — Sarah (San Pasquale) de Rosa, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 24, 2013, in the loving arms of her family.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Sarah was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rosina (Groppa) San Pasquale, and the sister of the late Vincenzo San Pasquale.

Sarah married Ralph Stephen de Rosa on April 27, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, to whom she was  married for 60 years before he passed away. Sarah attended St. John's University in Brooklyn and was personal secretary to the Director of Catholic Charities Italian Board of Guardians. After their marriage she was secretary to the president of Gannon University in Erie, PA.

She was a founder of the Niagara County Unit of the American Diabetes Association. She served as a diabetes educator for over 30 years, and was recognized by the ADA for her educational contributions. She was also a member of the Two-Twenty Mother's Club and Home Bureau, where she held various offices for many years.

She was involved with Prince of Peace Parish as a lector and extraordinary minister of the   Eucharist, and past chairwoman of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also active in the Prince of Peace Mother's Club.

Sarah was dedicated to her family, raising their seven children in Niagara Falls. She was      compassionate to everyone. She was homemaker of great artistic talent, celebrating every season, holiday and family event with great joy and creativity.  

Sarah was the mother of Maria de Rosa Wolcott, wife of John "Bill" Wolcott, of Niagara Falls, whose children are Sarah, Gregory and Heather; Linda de Rosa Boehman, wife of Robert Boehman, of Frederick, MD, whose children are Jonathan, Amy, Jessica, Christopher, Joshua and Meghan; Peter de Rosa, husband of Arlinda Basco, of Niagara Falls, whose children are Cristina, Angelica, Joseph and Raphael; the late Stephen de Rosa of Niagara Falls, whose children are Vanessa, Matthew and Ethan; Rosemary de Rosa, wife of Larry LeBlond, of Youngstown; Sarah Marie de Rosa (fiance Anthony Pugliese), of Niagara Falls, whose children are Stefanie and Cristian; and the Very Reverend Francis de Rosa of Colonial Beach, VA. She had seven great-grandchildren: Everett and Theo Boehman, Sam Pollitt, Kirstin and Kaitlyn Nelson, Robby Hoffman and Gianna Wrest. She was the beloved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews, including her brother's children, Cynthia and       Diane.

Friends are welcome at LANE FUNERAL HOME, 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls on Wednesday, August 28th from 7 PM to 9 PM and on Thursday, August 29th from 2 PM to 4 PM and from 7 PM to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, will be celebrated on Friday, August 30th at 10:30 AM with her son, Very Rev. Francis de Rosa, officiating. Friends are asked to assemble at the church. She will be interred at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston.
