Sr. Dolores Garner, OSF

STELLA NIAGARA — Sr. Dolores Garner, OSF, (formerly Sister Patricia) of Lower River Road, passed away on Thursday, October 24,  2013, in the Stella Niagara Health Center.

She was born in Jackson, OH on February 22, 1921, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Cassidy) Garner.

Sister entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity on September 7, 1939, and was professed on August 18, 1941 at Stella Niagara.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education at St. Mary of the Springs in 1956 and her Master of Education from Niagara University in 1963.

Sister had taught at St. Michael School in Buffalo, St. Joseph School in Gowanda where she later served as Principal, Our Lady of the Rosary in Buffalo, Bishop McMahon High School, St. Lawrence School and at St. Benedict School, all in Buffalo, NY. She had also taught at St. Peter and St. Vincent Schools in Columbus, OH and in West Virginia and New Jersey. She retired to Stella Niagara in June of 1994.

Sister is survived by her Sisters in community, cousins and dear friends.

Friends may call on Monday from 2-5 PM at Stella Niagara, 4421 Lower River Road, Stella  Niagara, NY, where a  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:00 PM, in the Sister's Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, 4421 Lower River Road, Stella Niagara, NY 14144. Interment at Stella Niagara Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
