Norman K. Merrell, 71, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Phillipsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Norman and Mary (Belko) Merrell.
Norman moved to the Niagara Falls area with his family. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. For over twenty years, Norm worked for Gills Plumbing Supply, later known as Schaefer Plumbing Supply, in the Town of Niagara until his retirement. Following his retirement, he also worked at Gui's Lumber and Home Care Center. Norman was an avid sports fan who loved the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also adored his dog, Lucy.
Mr. Merrell is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Marlene S. (Finnen) Merrell; two daughters, Norene (David) Collins of Pittsburgh, PA and Jennifer (William) Fleming of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Emma Collins, Madeline Collins and Benjamin Fleming; one brother, Ronald (Sarah) Merrell of Niagara Falls, NY; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will be held in Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston, NY at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to a charity of one's choice.
