Jewel Juanita Dixon-Wallace

SANBORN — Jewel Juanita (Bartoo) Dixon-Wallace, of  Sanborn, NY, went to her heavenly home on     March 7, 2013, under the care of Niagara County Hospice House. Jewel was born on October 24, 1929 in Buffalo, NY. Jewel was the daughter of the late Heston and Florence Bartoo.

Jewel was employed by St. Mary's Hospital until her retirement in 1992. Jewel's tender and giving spirit led her to volunteer as a grandmother in St. Mary's Hospital Day Care. Jewel loved life and lived it to the fullest. Jewel enjoyed vacationing, bowling, crafts and spending time with her family. Jewel was also an avid New York Yankees fan.

Jewel is lovingly remembered by her husband, John R. Wallace, of 11 years and three daughters, Jacqueline (Doug) Stensrud of Hermiston, OR, Florence (Lee) Swartz of Niagara Falls, NY, Candice (Richard) Nye of Rapids, NY; three sons, Jerry (Susan Biro) Dixon of Hamburg, NY, Wayne (Kate) Dixon of Olympia, WA, and Jack (Lenae) Dixon of Saegertown, PA; step-children, Steven (Beth) Wallace of Lockport, NY and Brenda Wallace; and brothers, Herbert "Buck" (Joy) Fitzpatrick of Coeur d'Alene, ID, and William (Judy) Fitzpatrick of Youngstown, NY. Jewel is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Jewel was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Jack R. Dixon, Sr.; sons, Terry L. Dixon and William A. Dixon, Sr; and a brother, Harry "Duke" Bartoo.

Memorial service to be held on Monday, March 11, 2013, at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen's       Episcopal Church, 616 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church or Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
