Matthew D. Bresnock

LOCKPORT — Matthew D. Bresnock, of Krueger Road, Town of Wheatfield, died on Friday, April 19, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House. He was 88. He was born in Numine, PA on December 19, 1924, the son of Joseph and Rose (Yasko) Beresnyak. He attended schools in PA, moving to Niagara Falls in 1946.

Matthew was a 50 plus year member of the Carpenters Union Local 276. As a young man he was employed by the International Paper Company, worked at the Chevrolet Plant, and as a trade carpenter at the Niagara Power Project. He was handy around the home and was known as a jack-of-all-trades. During the summer months, he could be found working in his garden. He especially loved his computer and creating special greeting cards for family and friends.  

He was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Gibbon) Bresnock. Survivors include two     daughters, Dianne Carpenter (David) of East Amherst; Ilona Maracle (Robin) of Youngstown; a sister, Helen Reken of Indiana, PA; five grandchildren, Paige Fallacaro of Cheektowaga; Nicole Watson of Sanborn; Darcie Gatti of Monroeville, PA; Bethany Agnello of Lewiston; Stacey Zahno of Ransomville; eight great-grandchildren; two special nephews, Thomas Beresnyak (Georgeanne) and Leslie Beresnyak, Jr. (Faye). Also survived by many other nieces and nephews and his special friend and fellow union carpenter, Darrell Blank.  He was predeceased by siblings, Joseph, Leslie and Steve Beresnyak, Mary Grego, Frank, Andy, William and George Bresnock.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo  Avenue, Niagara Falls, where prayers will be said Wednesday 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in  St. Jude Apostle R.C. Church. The interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria. Flowers graciously declined. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc., 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
