Edward W. Washcalus

NIAGARA FALLS — Edward W. Washcalus, of Niagara Falls, NY, husband of the late Magdalen Zielinski Washcalus. He was born in Plymouth, PA,  October 20, 1926. The son of the late Costic and Catherine Washcalus. A veteran of US Navy and served his country from 1944-1946. Edward worked for the City of Niagara Falls, NY in the Sign Shop for many years and retired in 1989. His wife, Magdalen died in 2007. He moved to Niagara Falls, NY from Pennsylvania.

Member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Ed was very active in youth baseball and football in Niagara Falls for many years with Cataract Little Loop and Mid-Town Little League.  Member of the Niagara Falls Old Timers Club and enjoyed going to youth sporting events. Ed and Madge were avid bowlers. #1 Buffalo Bills fan, enjoyed playing golf.

Father of Josephine (Bruce) Hindle, Edward (Laurie) Washcalus, all of Niagara Falls, NY; Carol (David) Miller of Olcott, NY; and Richard (Joanne) Washcalus of Niagara Falls, NY. Also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, WEDNESDAY 4-8 PM, where funeral services will be held THURSDAY at 11:00 AM. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094; or Mount St. Mary's Hospital, 5300 Military Road, Lewiston, NY 14092, would be appreciated.
