Alexander "Scotty" Garven, 82, of Largo, FL, formerly of Niagara Falls, passed away under Hospice Care at Belleair Health Center on February 12, 2013, after a long illness. Born in Newark, NJ, on December 23, 1930, he was the son of John and Janet (Caldwell) Garven.
He moved to Paisley, Scotland, until the age of 17 then joined the US Navy during the Korean War. Scotty married Patricia Tulolwiecki in October of 1953. He worked as a switch engine operator at Hooker Chemical (Oxy Chem) for 40 years until his retirement in 1993, where he moved to Largo, FL.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, Scotty is survived by sons, Kenneth (Carla) of Niagara Falls, Robert (Kimberly) of Florida; daughter, Debra Benthin (Mike) of Sanborn; brother, Ronald (Charlotte) of Youngstown; sister, Margaret (Sandy) of Marina, CA; grandchildren, Rob, Kerri, Jerred and Kasey; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Delalncy and Matthew; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; and brother, John.
