Louise Smith

NIAGARA FALLS, ONT — Louise Smith passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Queenston Place in Niagara Falls, Ontario, at the age of 87.

Predeceased by her husband, Docford Smith (1973) and her companion, Harry Rayner (2005). Dearly loved mother of Sharon Lee Smith (Niagara Falls, NY), Mary Lou (Russell) Hill (Niagara Falls, NY), and James (Michelle) Smith (Tottenham, ON). Cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Jeffrey) Kashella, Vanessa (Christopher) Mercurio, Jonathan Smith, Theo Smith and Sarah Smith.  Loving great-grandmother of Carmella, Lenora and Carmen Mercurio. Sister of Agnes Holtzhousen. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, including Marie (Victor) Petronella, Michael (Lynn) Maraschiello, Dolores (late Remy) Minute and Janet (Gabby) Neufeld.

She was born to  Joseph and Jenny Montagna of Niagara Falls, ON, where she attended St. Patrick's school and parish. She moved to Niagara Falls, NY after getting married, where she raised her children. After Docford's death in 1973, she moved back to Canada.

Louise loved to travel, having visited Hawaii, England, Turkey, Spain, Greece, her beloved Italy three times, and she spent winters in Florida. She loved bingo and was a member of the Christoforo Columbo Society. Louise also loved to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada.

Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls.
