Thomas B. Walmsley

BROOKFIELD, NY —  

Thomas B. Walmsley, 59, of Gorton Lake Road, passed away, peacefully, on Friday, January 25, 2013, at his home, with his loving wife and daughter at his side, following a courageous battle against cancer.
He was born in Chicago, IL on November 15, 1953, the son of John and Cornelia Bucknum Walmsley. 
Tom graduated from Lewiston Porter High School and later attended Northland College in Ashland, WI. While in college he sang with the Voyagers and traveled and competed in musical computations. 
Tom proudly served in the United States Army for 25 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 2003.  He served tours in Italy, Germany, Operation Desert Storm and numerous other bases in the states.  
Thomas met and fell in love with his wife in the service. Thomas and Theresa were married in Tacoma, WA in 2000. After retiring from military in 2003, they moved to Niagara Falls, NY for a while. In 2006 they moved to Brookfield where Tom fell in love with the country and met his best friend, Doug Woosley, and other special friends.
Tom had many loves including reading, cooking, camping with close friends, traveling, classic movies, shuffle board, and especially tiggers. Tom loved to watch musicals with his daughter, Angelique; it was their own special time together.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; his daughter, Angelique Foote of Brookfield, NY;  his parents, John and Cornelia Walmsley of Lewiston, NY; his sister, Margi Strombeck and husband, Jack of Chicago, IL; a niece, Erica Strombeck, also of Chicago, IL; his constant canine friend, Polly Ann; and numerous cousins. Tom also leaves numerous special friends.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Wednesday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In keeping with Tom's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tom's name to either the USO or the American Cancer Society.
