Jean McCarthy Britten

HARRISBURG, PA — Jean McCarthy Britten died on January 5, 2013, at Harrisburg Hospital. She was 76 years old. Mrs. Britten was born in Boston, and lived in Wyoming, Philadelphia, Lewiston, NY and Harrisburg.

Mrs. Britten is survived by her son, Hugh Britten, PhD., his wife, Lynn Riley, PhD. and grandchildren, Nicholas and Caitlin of South Dakota; son, Andrew Britten, PA-C, his wife, Raynette and grandchildren, Jack and James of Florida; daughter, Jennifer Britten, her husband, John Pfau and grandchildren, Molly, Rebecca and Naomi of Harrisburg, PA; daughter, Gretchen   Metzger, her husband, Timothy and grandchildren, Hannah, Bryan and James of New York.

Mrs. Britten graduated from Merrimac College and holds a master's degree from Niagara    University. She retired from St. Joseph School, Niagara Falls, NY, and as an Adjunct Instructor at Harrisburg Area Community College.

A memorial service will be held at Gilbert Dailey Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 PM in the funeral home. A memorial Mass is planned for a later date in Niagara Falls, NY. Burial will be in Niagara Falls, NY.

The family wishes to extend gratitude and thanks to the staff of Homeland Center for the       excellent care of their mother/grandmother.

The Dailey Funeral Home, 650 South 28th St., Penbrook, is honored to serve the Britten family.
