Donna Lynn Winstanley


Donna Lynn Winstanley, age 64, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, February 20, 2014. She was born at home in Merriton, Ontario, Canada on July 11, 1949, daughter of the late William and Susan (Bryce) Winstanley.
A graduate of Niagara Falls High School in 1967, she pursued her education after starting her family and graduated from NCCC. As Donna enjoyed the challenges of her occupation, she began her employment as a bookkeeper at Home Oil and Weber Oil. She advanced her line of work as an Office Manager with Schrack Oil.  In 2000, she began working for the City of Niagara Falls as Secretary of the City Administrator. She transferred into the law department and finished her remaining six years with the city as secretary to the Mayor. She retired in August of 2013. Donna enjoyed reading, cooking, music and playing the piano.
She was the loving mother of daughter, Amy (Daniel) Murdock; and son, Marc Capatosto; sister of Susan (Paul) Kuchinski, Linda Hardy, Nora (Larry) Aloian, John (Theresa) Winstanley, Allan (Barbara) Winstanley and Richard (Peggy) Winstanley. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas Peters (2011).
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 140 Rainbow Blvd., Niagara Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Donna's name to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094; or Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263.
