NIAGARA FALLS —
Nancy M. (Rizzo) Farbo, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at her daughter's home in Niagara Falls, NY, under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Born and educated in Central City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Lena (Barreca) Rizzo.
On February 14, 1942, she married Dominick A. Farbo at Sacred Heart Church in Central City, PA. Following their marriage, she and her husband came to Niagara Falls, NY, where she lived until the present time. Mr. Farbo predeceased her on May 24, 1983. Nancy was very active in several groups at Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parishes including the CFM, Altar and Rosary Society, Mother's Club, Bishop's Committee, the Legion of Mary which she also served as a past president and was a Eucharistic Minister. Nancy cleaned and manicured both Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Our Lady of the Rosary churches for more than twenty years as a sign of her devotion to the Catholic Church. She was the recipient of the God Home and Country Award from the Catholic War Veterans Post 925 for her dedication and hard work.
Nancy was an avid card player and hosted many games for her many friends. She was a fabulous cook and baker and made breads, pies and cookies for many fundraisers at various schools, clubs and churches. She also catered many events for friends and family which led to the formation of a small catering business, in addition to cooking for several local restaurants. She took her family and worked with the migrant workers in Albion, NY harvesting crops and cooking fresh food. Nancy worked alongside her husband to provide for their six children as well as opening her home to foster children and families with problems. Most of all, Nancy enjoyed spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
