Elizabeth "Libby" Caterina, 66, passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2013 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Sabino and Lebra "Bella" A. (Bagnoli) Caterina.
Libby, as most knew her, was a lifelong resident of the LaSalle are of Niagara Falls, and attended local schools. Following high school, she attended Edinborough State College in Pennsylvania. Libby's TRUE passion in life was helping others and after traveling throughout the world, she returned home and began a lifelong career as a child and family social worker for the city of Niagara Falls. Libby worked tirelessly and selflessly to help counsel, mentor, improve and in some cases save peoples' families, futures and lives of the hundreds if not thousands that came across her doorstep. She sacrificed more than thirty years of her life, her heart and her soul to others; without ever asking or expecting anything in return. There are families and children that would not be here today if not for Libby. Her influence and the way she touched and changed lives borders upon the saintly. Following her retirement, she continued her mission at home, caring for her elderly mother and sister until both their passing. She was truly a compassionate soul and without a doubt the most kindhearted woman one could ever have the pleasure to know.
Libby loved her family. She also had a passion for antiques and heirlooms which she collected. She loved to read, cook, laugh and particularly enjoyed the company of others. Libby was the true embodiment of God's amazing grace here on earth. We will not know another as kind and compassionate, loving and caring and devoted individual such as her. The only true solace in her passing is knowing that she is no longer in pain and is enjoying her new life. For her, the gates opened automatically as Peter gave her a wink and a nod and a smile. We will see each other again, Libby. May you rest in peace, you deserve it. God Bless You.
In addition to her parents, Libby is predeceased by her sister, Monica. She is survived by her loving sister, Susan Hodnik of Alaska; her nephews, Joshua (Regina) Rioux of Alaska and Jonah Rioux of California as well as their families; great-nephews, Jadon and Josiah; great-nieces, Jonna, April and Olivia; her uncle, Louis Caterina of Niagara Falls, NY; her special great-aunt, Emma Toole of Pennsylvania; special niece, Camille Reynolds; her cousins, Mary Anne DeFranco, Butchie Agnello, Sonny Agnello of Niagara Falls, NY, Peter Maselli of Florida and Belinda Golovato and family of California; and a very special Goddaughter, Lauren Rutherford.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 17th at 12 Noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. Libby's celebration of life is and will be YOUR life, for if you knew her, your life in one way or another is better. Arrangements by M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.

the name is nay important,
For all fall within the realm of love.
A love that gives hope, hope to love.
Hopelove, with no boundaries
Love. hope, from a single seed that in
Libby's realm bloomed into beautiful flowers.
Bright and shiny blossoms
Bringing joy and love and hope.
to all who fell within her perview.
How blessed to have bathed in her glow
To have benefited from her love.
We will always have that love, that hope
Within our grasp as she looks down upon us.
We love you as you loved us.
Always holding some of your flowers in our hearts.
