Walter Donald Kinnin

LEWISTON — Walter Donald Kinnin, of Niagara Falls, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, following a brief illness. He was 75. He was born in Greenwich, NY on October 23, 1937, the son of David and Marion (Schwem) Kinnin. He was a graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy and worked as a pharmacist for over 50 years, and was Doctor of Pharmacy for 30 years.

While a resident of Cambridge, NY, he owned and operated Kinnin's Pharmacy from 1962-1984, selling it to Rite-Aid in 1984. Walter was very active in Cambridge and was a member of the Cambridge School Board, serving as President; member of Ashlar Lodge #587 F.&A.M., (Greenwich, NY) raised on May 18, 1959, serving as Master in 1964, during which he brought in nine new members. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite; the Buffalo Chapter Ismailia Shrine Temple, and member Emeritus of International Supreme Council of DeMolay, serving as Executive Officer for New York State in 1976. After moving to the Falls, he became a member of the LaSalle Lodge 1049 F.&A.M., serving also as its Master from 2001-2002. In 2009 he received his 50-year pin from Ashlar Lodge.

Locally, he was a Pharmacist for McLeods Pharmacy, Walmart and various area Rite-Aid       locations, retiring in 2008.

In his private life, he enjoyed vegetable gardening, working in his yard, loved reading and watching movies.

Survivors include his soul-mate, Donna Kinnin; two children, Robert Kinnin (Carol) of Kingston, NY and Kathy Kinnin of Gansevoort, NY; two grandsons, Stefan Kinnin and Jared Kinnin, both of Kingston, NY. He was predeceased by his niece, Vicki Kinnin Nicastro.

Friends may call Friday from 6-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo      Avenue, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Grove officiating. Interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria, NY. Members of the Niagara LaSalle Lodge No. 132 will conduct services at 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
