NIAGARA FALLS —
Mary A. (Riggi) Leo, 90, of Haeberle Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2012 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on August 24, 1922 to the late John and Taviana (nee DiPrima) Riggi.
A lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, Mary was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School Class of 1940 and received a Scholarship from the New York City School of Fine Arts. On March 29, 1944, the former Mary A. Riggi married her high school sweetheart, Joseph A. Leo, in St. Joseph's Church. From 1969 -1979, Mary worked as a classroom and lunchroom aide for the Niagara Falls Board of Education, first in the Beech Avenue School and then at the Gaskill School until her retirement. Mary's hobbies included cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and friends. Together with her husband, Joe, she especially enjoyed traveling and spending her winters in Las Vegas, NV and Wichita, KS to be with their children and granddaughter.
Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph A. Leo of Niagara Falls, NY. Three children, Allan (Connie) Leo of Niagara Falls, NY, Philip (Dawn) Leo of Las Vegas, NV, Joelle (Carl H.) Watts of Wichita, KS. A granddaughter, Marielle Leo of Las Vegas, NV. Two sisters-in-law, Mary Leo of Niagara Falls, NY and Olga Marie (Mario) Lorenzoni, of Plano, TX. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Mrs. Leo was predeceased by her parents; her son, the late Jeffrey Leo; seven siblings, the late Jessie Cicatello, late James (Connie) Riggi, late Philip (Helen) Riggi, late Salvatore "Toots" (Patricia) Riggi, late Joey Riggi, late Joseph Riggi, and the late Angela (Joseph) Morello; her mother and father-in-law, the late Ernest and Mary Leo; and two brothers-in-law, the late Vincent (Katherine) Leo and the late Francis Leo.
