Donald B. Moyer

GOWANDA — Donald B. Moyer, 83, a retired maintenance worker for Cornell Coop Ext., where he worked for 10 years, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at TLC Lake Shore Hospital in Irving, NY. He was previously from 176 Jefferson St., Cattaraugus.

He was born October 9, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Kenneth and Muriel (Bullock) Moyer.

Don also worked at Fantasy Island and with his brother, CW Moyer Electric for 18 years. He owned Moyer Amusements for several years. He served in the Marines during the Korean conflict.

He was a member of the National American Legion, past member of the Marine Corp League of Niagara Falls, NY.

He is survived by two sons, David E. Moyer, Sr. of Niagara Falls, NY, James R. (Betty) Moyer of Gowanda, NY; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Betsy Evans) Moyer, whom he married on October 6, 1961, and who passed away on September 26, 2010; his three sons, Donald Moyer, Jr., Robert Moyer, David E. Moyer, Jr.; his two brothers, Charles Moyer, Roderick Moyer and his sister, Katharine Patrick.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011, at 1:00 PM, at Gowanda Fire Department Hall, 230 Aldrich Street, Gowanda, NY. The Rev. Vernon Saile of Gowanda Free Methodist Church will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus, NY. Family suggests memorials to Cattaraugus Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 44, Cattaraugus, NY 14719, or charity of your choice.
