Teodorico "Teddy" Borja Barrientos

DES MOINES, WA —  

Teodorico "Teddy" Borja Barrientos, 80, of Des Moines, WA, passed away on November 11, 2012 after complications from a stroke at St. Josephs Hospital in Tacoma, WA . He was born one of 12 siblings to Ricardo and Cedulia Barrientos in Bintawan Sur, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines on December 29, 1931. He joined the US Coast Guard at age 24 and immigrated to the United States. He was first married at the age of 31 and produced four children. He became a naturalized citizen in 1965. During his military career, he was stationed all over the U.S. before retiring at U.S.C.G. Station Niagara in Youngstown, NY. He moved to Seattle, WA in 1990, where he worked in security. In 1991, he met and married Gloria, the love of his life.
Teddy was a loving husband, father and friend. He enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, fishing and traveling.  He had a memorable laugh and loving heart. He kept his sense of humor up until the end.
Teddy is survived by his loving wife, Gloria of Des Moines, WA; his son, Richard Lee Barrientos (Cynthia) and grandson, Lee of Seattle, WA; his son, Ted Christopher China Barrientos (Christine) and grandchildren, Makenna, Caden and Jaron of Youngstown, NY; his daughter, Carlynn Marie Barrientos of Homer, AK; his step-children, Joan Pascua (Diego) and grandchildren, Alexandra and Diego II of Des Moines, WA; Jeniveth Laureta (Ulysses) and grandchildren, Nyah and Ethan of Seattle, WA; Jonathan Alindayu (Rosie) and grandchildren, Christian, Isabella, Landon and Nico of Kent, WA; Jhovene Alindayu (Emerald) and grandchildren, Jasmine and Abigail of Renton, WA; Janice Alindayu and grandson, Cyris. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Gladielou Shellabarger of Camp Nelson, CA. His parents; nine of his siblings; and his daughter, Virginia, preceded him in death.
A private family viewing and Holy Mass will   be held in Kent, WA. Should friends desire, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of WNY, 1775 Wehrle Dr., Suite #150, Williamsville, NY 14221.
