Ronald I. Westley

LEWISTON — Ronald I. Westley, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010, at his home under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in St. Petersburg, FL on December 17, 1938, the son of the late Robert G. and Hazel (Calkins) Westley.

Mr. Westley moved to Niagara Falls with his family in 1939. He was a graduate of both Niagara Falls High School and Trott Vocational High School. He was a millwright at Harrison Radiator in Lockport for over 30 years, before retiring in 2000. Mr. Westley loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid sportsman and Buffalo Sabres fan. He enjoyed taking care of his garden, all types of animals and cooking.

Mr. Westley is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen B. (Arnold) Westley, whom he married on September 13, 1960; two daughters, Tammy E.  (Bud) Nienburg and Cindy L. Passanese, both of Lewiston, NY; "Papa" of Ronald (Crystal) and Richard Primerano, Sarah and Gus Nienburg, Emily, Allison and Sebby Passanese and Johnny Kankolenski; a great-granddaughter, Alexa; two brothers, Robert Westley and Neil (Kathleen) Westley; one sister, Amanda (Ed) Houtz, all of Niagara Falls, NY; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, on Monday from 5-7 PM, where funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM, with the Rev. Robert Bellingham officiating. Memorials may be made in his name to the Niagara SPCA, 2100 Lockport Rd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
