Robert George Farrell

BUFFALO — Robert George Farrell, a lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on February 15, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo, NY, of complications from a stroke. He was 72.

A graduate of Niagara Falls High School, he studied at Syracuse University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial and Interior Design. Mr. Farrell served as  construction surveyor during his military service with U.S. Army - 27th Engineer Battalion, Combat. He was stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. A genius at steel fabrication and design, his work enabled the construction of many local buildings. He worked for several years as supervisor of design and layout at the Niagara Steel Finishing Company and at McEntyre Steel Corp.

Affectionately known to his many friends as "Snake," he was a talented and generous artist whose paintings and graphic designs adorn many home interiors and residences of friends in the Western NY area. He was a longtime member of Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo.

Robert was the son of the late George and Anne Farrell of Niagara Falls and Torre del Mar, Spain.

He is survived by brothers, James and Richard Ray Farrell and sister, Sheila Farrell Zuni.

As Robert pledged his remains to medical research at the University of Buffalo, no funeral will be held. The family will salute Robert's military service and hold a memorial gathering for family and friends in May.
