Niagara Gazette

NIAGARA FALLS — On February 19, 2014, Margaret Elizabeth Stecko, 98, entered peacefully into eternal life      surrounded by her loving family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Gaetano Trincanati; sister of the late Donald Trincanati, and loving wife of Peter John Stecko, who predeceased her in 1973.

Margaret attended local schools where she excelled in swimming and diving, and was a       graduate of Kelly's Business Institute. She was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and a faithful parishioner of the former St. Joseph Parish, and for many years she served as a member of the Ladies of Charity. Together, with her husband Peter, she co-owned the N.J. Trincanati Electric Company on Pine Avenue, a business established by her parents many years before.

Margaret's entire life centered on faith, family and cherished traditions. Always available, she cared for her parents at home until they passed away, and blessed her children and grandchildren with her wisdom and supportive presence. Traditions such as Christmas Eve, the Vigilia dinner and family reunions, instilled in her by her parents and passed on by her, will always be cherished.

Margaret will be remembered for her loyalty, integrity, honesty and independent spirit. To the end, she graciously exemplified an acceptance of all life's joyful and sorrowful circumstances. She was a child of God, faithful to His purpose for her life. "In the evening of life she will be judged by her love."

She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Pallone of Lewiston, NY and Donna Portale of      Niagara Falls, NY; grandchildren, Frank (Kim) Pallone of Ransomville, NY, Maria (Anthony) Sorosky of Carpinteria, CA, and Dr. Margaret O'Keefe of Lewiston, NY, Richard (Victoria)        Portale of White Plains, NY, and Daniel (late Christina) Portale of Bogota, Colombia. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Anne (Leo of Acton, MA) McGahan. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by many loving cousins and caregivers, especially Wendy Williams and the staff of Our Lady of Peace in Lewiston, NY.
