Robert J. Kohnke, DDS

WHEATFIELD — Robert J. Kohnke, DDS, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Elderwood Health Care Center at Crestwood.  He was 83. Born in Hornell, NY on December 3, 1930, he was the son of Robert R. and Mary Catherine (King) Kohnke.

Dr. Kohnke was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, class of 1950 and the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry class of 1954. He practiced dentistry in North Tonawanda for       43 years, retiring in 1997.

An avid golfer, he enjoyed the outdoors spending summers at the family cottage in Long Beach, Ontario. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace and a past parish council member.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Marie (Morison) Kohnke. Survivors include six children, Mary Sue Wagner (Mark) of Philadelphia, PA; Kevin Kohnke (Lisa) of Wheatfield; Kathy Kohnke of Boyton Beach, FL; Christopher Kohnke of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Maureen Kohnke of Miami, FL; Robert Kohnke (Meghan) of Tampa, FL; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Kohnke and two brothers, Jack and Raymond Kohnke.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where prayers will be said Thursday 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace, 1055 Military Road, Niagara Falls. The interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UB Dental School Scholarship Fund, PO Box 900, Buffalo, NY 14226.
