Silvin "Bill" Bricca


Silvin "Bill" Bricca, age 83, of Grand Island, was called to his heavenly home on January 15, 2014 while at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in Erie, PA on February 8, 1930, he was the son of the late Guarino and Margaret (Traynor) Bricca.
A former resident of North Tonawanda and Wheatfield, Bill was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School, Class of 1948. He is a U.S. military veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the 2nd Infantry Division, honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1953 and then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967 at the 107th Air National Guard, and discharged as Sergeant First Class. Bill was a machinist at various corporations, until his retirement and enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include his loving wife, Yvonne (Ziehm) Bricca. They were united in marriage on April 3, 1954 at Grace Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda; five children, Owen (Melanie) Bricca, Naomi (James) Parkinson III, Heidi Wallace, Rachel (Vince) Corulli and Amy (Fred) Deer; grandchildren, Michael Mura, James Parkinson IV, Linnea DuFour, Bryan Wallace, Jason Parkinson, Hannah Deer, Connor Deer and Faith Deer; great-grandchildren, Aubrey DuFour, Ava Wallace and Nora DuFour; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Michael Myrtle.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Sunday from 1:00-3:30 PM. Services will be conducted by Pastor Richard George at 3:30 PM, following visitation in the funeral home. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
