Clarence C. Wright, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY, following a lengthy illness. Born on October 15, 1918 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late William Henry and Lorena (McConnell) Wright.
Mr. Wright came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with his family and attended local schools. Chuck, as he was known by family and friends, proudly served in the United States Army, during World War II, while stationed in the South Pacific, from August 7, 1941 until his honorable discharge on June 29, 1945. While serving, he was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with One Star. On January 26, 1946, Mr. Wright married the former Anne Cadwallader in St. James Methodist Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Chuck was employed as a Lineman for the former New York Telephone Company (currently Verizon), until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Wright was very talented in home repairs and enjoyed working on his home, spending time at his camp in Allegheny County, hunting and fishing. Chuck loved spending time with his pet dogs and cats.
In addition to his beloved wife of almost sixty-eight years, Mr. Wright is survived by four children, Ann L. (Leland) Mang of Florida, Clara (late Edward) Hornell of Niagara Falls, NY, Henry (Debbie) Wright of Niagara Falls, NY and April (Martin) Hohle of Sanborn, NY; three grandsons, three granddaughters and many great-grandchildren. Chuck is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three siblings, Kenneth Wright, Ida Weaver and Lena Luce.
There will be no prior visitation. A private graveside service will be held in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the SPCA of Niagara, 2100 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
